Absence Policy
Bentley Primary School expects all children to be at school during terms unless they are unwell. We know that in exceptional circumstances parents must take holiday in school time but hope that every effort will be made to avoid this.
Procedures for absence
In the event of absence parents should inform the school by phone on the first day of absence. If the absence is extended beyond two days they should again inform the school.

Authorised absence for annual holidays can be granted at the Head's discretion. This is for a maximum of 10 days in one block. Please make every effort to avoid taking holiday in April/May for children in Yrs 2-3 inclusive because of SATs tests. Application for annual holiday must be made at least 4 weeks in advance. |

Parents must understand that if they do take a holiday in school time this may well affect the education of their children. |

Work will not be set to make up the shortfall or extra time/help given when they return to school. |

It is hoped that parents will not take holiday at the start of any term or half term. The end of term is less disruptive to their children's education. |

Absence for dentist/doctors/interviews will be authorised as long as the school is informed in advance. |

Certificates are given for 100% attendance each term. |
